Departure to Istanbul from Boston.
DAY 2: June-26-2019 Istanbul (D)
Arrival in Istanbul, the city that makes the bridge between two continents, “Europe” and “Asia”. You will be met at the airport, transfers, dinner and overnight.
DAY 3: June-27-2019 Istanbul (B-L-D)
After the breakfast, departure to visit the Museum of Hagia Sophia (Church of Divine Wisdom, built by Justinian). Visit the Hippodrome, where chariot races and athletic events took place in the Roman period. Continue to Blue Mosque. After Lunch visit to the Kariye Museum, the old church of St. Saviour in Chora valuing the wonderful mosaics and frescoes depicting scenes extracted the life of the Virgin and Christ, who were restored under the guidance of the Byzantine Institute of Boston. Visit the Spice Bazaar. Dinner and Overnight.(B,L,D)
DAY 4: June-28-2019 Istanbul – Bosphorus Cruise – Cappadocia. (B-L-D)
After breakfast visit the spice market and private boarding our boat for the Bosphorus cruise ending in Uskudar on the Asian side of Istanbul. After lunch, free time and transportation to Sabiha Gokccen Airport for a flight to Kayseri. Arrival in Cappadocia, dinner and overnight.(B,L,D)
DAY 5: June-29-2019 Cappadocia (B-L-D)
After breakfast day dedicated to visit Cappadocia, (Monk’s Valley) then go to Avanos, a village situated on the banks of the River Kizilirmak, famous for its clay pottery (clay). After lunch, continue on to the Museum in Goreme open air, with the most impressive of all the churches carved into the rock of Cappadocia. The last stop will be the village of Uchisar. Dinner and overnight in Cappadocia. (Special Turkish night)
DAY 6: June-30-2019 Cappadocia (B-L-D)
After breakfast, explore the Derinkuyu underground city; the huge refugee camp carved by early Christians, where they could hide from persecutors. De Derinkuyu continue to the beautiful valley of Ihlara, formerly known as Peristerema. Meet the famous churches carved into the rocks. On the way back visit to the Village of Selime and Caravansary built in the 13th century by Selcuk Turk Silk Road. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 7: July-01-2019 Cappadocia – Pergamum – Thyatira – Pamukkale overnight ( 7 hours drive ) (B-L-D)
After breakfast, flight to Izmir via Istanbul. The arrival 10:55 am and proceed to Pergamum. (Rev 1; 11; 2; 12). Pergamon (Bergama), the place where St. John the Apostle wrote to the church at Pergamum, “Throne of Satan is located.” Visit the Church of Pergamon, the red court, Acropolis. After lunch, visit Thyatira, which was fourth among the seven churches of Asia Minor to receive an epistle of the Apostle John (Revelation 2: 18-29). Dinner and Overnight in Pamukkale.
DAY 8: July-02-2019 Hierapolis – House of Virgin Mary – Ephesus – Kusadasi (B-L-D)
After breakfast at hotel, check-out and visit Hierapolis. Lunch en route at a local restaurant, and then drive on to Ephesus, the most impressive archaeological site today in Turkey. Before arriving in Ephesus, we will visit the House of the Virgin Mary and visited by hundreds of thousands of people every year. In 1967 His Holiness the Pope Paul VI in 1979 and His Holiness Pope John Paul II celebrated the Holy Mass here and also prayed for the two churches of Ephesus. St. John the Apostle brought Our Lady Peace to live in her later years before being elevated to Heavens. Continue towards the Basilica and the Tomb of St. John the Apostle. The afternoon visit Ephesus, the city dedicated to Artemis, the best preserved archaeological site in Asia Minor. Visit the Odeon, the marble street, where St. Paul walked and preached daily (Acts 19: 9), we see the Temple of Hadrian, the Library of Celsius and the grand Theater where St. Paul preached. Check-in at hotel. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 9: July-03-2019 Kusadasi – Embarkation on 3-day cruise – Patmos, Greece (B,L,D)
After buffet breakfast at hotel, check-out and at 9:00 a.m. transfer to the port of Kusadasi for embarkation on the cruise-ship and sail for Patmos at 1:00pm. At about 4 pm arrive in Patmos, beautiful and almost mysterious rocky island where the Apostle John was exiled to write the Book of Revelation of St. John (Rev. 1: 12-21). Our included shore excursion takes us up to visit the Monastery of St. John the Evangelist, where we have a wonderful view of the island. We also visit the Grotto of the Apocalypse. After some free time, return to the ship for overnight sailing to Heraklion. Dinner and overnight on board.
DAY 10: July-04-2019 Heraklion, Crete – Santorini (B,L,D)
At 7:00 in the morning we will arrive in Heraklion, Crete (Acts 27: 7-13). Free time on Heraklion or join the optional excursion to visit the Minoan Palace of Knossos (legendary home of the Minotaur (half man and half bull). Return to the ship for an 11:30 am sailing for Santorini. Upon our 4:30 pm arrival to Santorini, enjoy a donkey ride or take the cable car up to the white – washed town of Thera, perched high on the rim of the ancient volcano, the eruption of which (1,600 BC) literally buried a flourishing city in the Bronze Age, which was excavated at Akrotiri. Sail to Lavrion at 9pm. Dinner and overnight on board.
DAY 11: July-05-2019 Disembarkation – Corinth – Athens (B,L,D)
Early morning arrival to Lavrion port and disembark after breakfast. We depart from Lavrion and drive to Corinth. Enjoy a short photo stop at the Corinthian Canal and then arrive at ancient Corinth, home of the Apostle Paul for 1 1/2 years (Acts 18: 1-18). Here we see all the sites associated with the ministry of St. Paul. The Agora, the Temple of Apollo, the Roman Odeon, the Bema and Gallio seat, we will also visit the ancient port of Cenchreae before returning to Athens. In the afternoon we will climb up to the marble – capped Acropolis and visit the famous Parthenon and the Erechtheion. Continue with a visit to Mars Hill or Areopagus (Acts 17:22), where St. Paul the Apostle made his well-known sermon. Our tour ends with a panoramic sightseeing drive viewing the Parliament building, Tomb of an Unknown Soldier, the Panathenian Stadium, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Academy, the University and the National Library. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight. (Special Greek night)
Day 12: July-06-2019 Athens – Meteora – Kalambaka (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we drive through the Greek countryside and reach the spectacular Byzantine monasteries in Meteora, perched precariously on a huge finger – like rocks. Visit two monasteries and see the splendid original icons, old manuscripts and mosaics and frescoes. Continue to the hotel in the village of Kalambaka for dinner and overnight.
Day 13: July-07-2019 Kalambaka – Berea – Thessaloniki (B,L,D)
Continue north to Berea (Acts 17: 10-14) and see the ancient mosaic commemorating the preaching of Saint Paul in this city. In the afternoon we will arrive at Thessalonica (Acts 17: 1-13), we will visit the old city walls and enjoy the great view of the city below. En route to the hotel we will enjoy a sightseeing tour of the city.
Day 14: July-08-2019 Amphipolis – Philippi – Kavala (Neapolis) – Thessalonica (B,L,D)
After a brief stop at the Lion Statue in Amphipolis (Acts 17: 1) we make our way to Philippi (Acts 16: 12-40; 20: 6). Here we see the Agora and the prison where St. Paul and Silas were kept. We continue to Kavala, the ancient port of Neapolis (Acts 16: 11). Back to Thessaloniki for dinner and overnight.
Day 15: July-09-2019 Thessaloniki / Departure (B)
Breakfast at the hotel, check out and transfer to the airport of Thessaloniki for your flight home.
